After whining and obsessing over trivial personal indulgences, I have decided to get a grip. No, seriously, a real grip. Not a promise until the next time I see a weekend bag of cheetos. I have decided that I am going to track my progress on this blog. I know it is of no one else’s concern if I am successful but I feel it may be the thing to motivate me to lose ten pounds.
My goal is twofold. First, this class will be over in under 4 weeks and secondly my family is taking a houseboat vacation with 3 other families to Lake Cumberland. Five days of living in a bathing suit, boating, jet skiing and did I mention the bathing suit part? The four weeks left in this class are going to fly by with the amount of work involved in this short course. If I could set a goal of 2 pounds per week or even if it slows to 1 pound per week and I end up losing 5 or 6 REAL pounds it will make for a better, happier me on the boat trip.
1600 calories seems to be the magic number for me. I am attempting to post a link or two that list’s examples of a day’s worth of meal at 1600 calories. I probably will not match the diet, they get too detailed but will substitute and keep it close. It gives me a guideline. A person not exercising would not lose weight at 1600 calories which seems crazy to me. When you add 3-5 days of exercise to this caloric intake to get results of fat being burned. I exercise 3-5 times per week. I should be good, right?
Exercising is easy and fun and yes sweaty and hard work but I get up most mornings and go to the gym before 8 a.m. It seems a no brainer most days. I wonder why I can’t have this no brainer attitude with food.
Any one that can get up and get to the gym before 8 a.m. can most certainly do it!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a good Weight Watcher (and the program worked well for me) I was taking in about 1200 calories a day. I lost weight steadily and that was without exercising much. Men in the program were given a 1600 calorie diet since they were said to need more and could still lose weight. Anyway, good luck and I wish I was taking a great vacation, too.
ReplyDeleteThe calorie count thing is good but I would think that it would be fine to vary as long as you keep to exercising. The one thing that I struggle with is not eating or drinking after 8 o'clock. I always read that cutting out soda and not eating after 8 is a great way to lose 10 or 15 pounds. Combined with regular exercise, a few extra calories here or there shouldn't matter too much. I think.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the links. I was suprised by how much you could still eat with only taking in 1200 calories. I'm going to try this too. My shorts from last summer appear to be very snug. Maybe the dryer shrunk them. lol....
ReplyDeleteI followed a muscle building diet last year with my weight training and had good results. Now, I'm trying to train my body to balance what it eats. I find when I cut junk, I go on a binge after I start eating it again.
